Saturday 2nd September......Took off to the Ala Moana shopping centre to purchase my walking shoes before my toes dropped off.
Made my purchase and now back into comfortable walking again Toes now smiling. Walked around looking at a few other things, did some small shopping and back to unit for lunch. Down to the beach in the arvo for a bit of swimming which helped the toes to relax.
Today we had to report to maintenance again after complaining yesterday about the unit been advertised as brand new remodeled condo with dishwasher. It was no more brand new remodeled than I am and it certainly didn't have a dishwasher. Today we thought that we had to mention that the the tap water in the kitchen and bathroom only came out with very little pressure almost just a dribble and the shower wasn't too good either. As we are here for a month we felt that we needed to get it fixed right. It was taking about 15 mins to fill the kitchen sink and 40 seconds to fill 1 litre of water in the kettle. That would drive anyone mad. And yes we did complain......loudly.
They came in to inspect and said the maintenance man would be in tomorrow to replace all the taps and shower head. Tomorrow is Sunday of Labour weekend so that will cost them. Watch this space PT will continue the story after they have been On Sunday.
Looking down over to the Modern Hotel's swimming pool. Note to the right there is a smaller round pool. This pool is only ankle deep were people just use this to lye in the water or sunbath lying in the water. Today we noticed there was a wedding taking place and all the guests were sitting on chairs which are sitting in the pool and the bride can just be seen under the palm trees as per photo below. After the couple were married the guests came out of the pool and had the reception around the pool..cool idea.
Last nights sunset, still not as good as we have seen previous years.
Sunday 3rd September.----- Woke up to a cracker of a day not a cloud to be seen. Looking out from our balcony . Today was a bit of a nothing day, we were going along to the markets this morning to get some fruit and veg but had to stay in to wait for the plumber to come to deal with all our plumbing issues..:-( Finally we did get away after lunch heading for the markets in the hottest part of the day to find that the markets are on Saturdays!!!! As it was a holiday weekend we had to wait ages for the bus back by the time we arrived back too hot and tired to go down for a swim especially as Labour weekend always brings out all the locals to the beaches for their day picnics. .
Bruce the plumber.
PT will take over now to explain all the problems we had.
Yes Bruce did a brilliant job and had our plight in mind. All the pipes and faucets were full of calcium and thus were blocked solid. Even the hotwater was only luke warm. I cant mention the words that Bruce referred to units plumbing but....it wasnt complimentary. Also Friday evening we noticed that there was a leak under the kitchen sink. He established that it was the wastemaster that was leaking so new wastemaster as a necessity. All this must have been going on for years and it amazes us that no body had ever complained. Anyhow all fixed now and hot water is up to spec, taps are running fine. With 2 new faucets, new wastemaster, new shower and double time labour we estimate that costs to be well in excess of $1000.
I am pleased that we had made the decision to get it fixed now as it would have been murder for a month living with the way it was.
The unit now has its full WOF and we can now relax and get on with our holiday.....
Still no dishwasher? Oh wait, that would be Dad 😂
ReplyDeleteYou got it Jen, we won't be getting a dishwasher as no space for it. We note they have changed their web- site.....
DeleteGood holiday when your kitchen is in maintenance (o_o)
ReplyDeleteYour right Adam, all up and running now so no more stopping in for half the days waiting for maintenance men... :-)
