It was nice to get out early today for a walk before it got too hot. No waiting in for maintenance men.
Left the hotel and walked over to Ala Moana beach park, then along to the end of the beach, around the top of the boat harbour at the end of the beach. (Another boat harbour not the one in front of us.)
Ala Moana Beach.
Banyon Trees in the park.
As far as we walked, the breakwater at the mouth of the boat harbour.
The boys getting ready to jump in to paddle out to the waves around the corner . The waves don't look big but there is a bigger swell coming in than usual so they have to wait and jump out just at the right time otherwise they would be washed back in against the rocks which are down in front of the wall.
Fishing at the mouth of the harbour on the breakwater. He had a fish on but nothing he wanted to keep so he kicked it back into the water.
We were having sandwiches for lunch inside and this pigeon came from no where. He could spot us through the glass eating bread inside. Dad tried to wave him away but he could only focus on to the sandwich. He didn't get any, otherwise all his mates would have arrived.
After lunch we watched a bit of tennis to cool down and stay out of the hottest part of the day. We then went down for a swim after 2.30pm. The beach was very busy as it is Labour day here and it seems most of the locals flock to the beach and make it a real day trip out. With all their gear BBQ's, tents for sun shades all their food drinks etc etc everything one needs for a full day at the beach. You only see the locals down on the beach at a holiday long weekend. There will be no sign of them tomorrow and I think that the kids are back at school after their summer holidays. The beaches will be empty plus a few tourist.
Today we walked a total of 10 km's (14,259 steps). We try to do all out walking before lunch as its just too hot after that. The only walking we do in the afternoon usually is just down to the beach for swimming.
