We left for Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines HA 446 at 12.15am on the 31st August, 2017 five minutes early. Checking in on the 30th August late evening.
We had a great flight on one of their new Airbus A330-200 V2. Previously we travelled on the older V1. We had brilliant seats Row 11HJ. first row after business class which consisted of three rows. We travelled in extra comfort seats.
The wall on the left was the back of business class and the wall behind closed off a separate cabin all of our own. This section had one row across row 11 then just four seats in the centre in row 12. Then came a space for galley and toilet. Really unique . We had a snack then settled down to sleep. Slept well as you can see we had so much room. As you pushed the back of the seats back your seat slid forward. Very comfortable. Didn't wake up until breakfast was being served and before we knew it we were landing. The usual warm sunny weather. Arrived at The Ilikai Hotel condo 1937 about 11.30am and had the code to the door and could go straight up and settle in.
Our Condo 1937 taken from the balcony looking in.
View from balcony. We are in a different wing this time which looks down the coast more whereas last time we looked more straight out to sea.
Zoomed in looking down from balcony watching the horn blower. Traditional horn blowing that takes place just before the sun goes down. (Man in the red).
Haven't had a good sun set yet too many clouds on the horizon.
Just after sun set all taken from our balcony.
Night lights.
Going back to Wednesday 30th Aug Hawaiian time arrival day, we settled in then went out to the supermarket near by down the back street and got some bare essentials for our first day or two.
Thursday 31st we took off to the big supermarket Don Quijote behind the Ala Moana centre and stocked up with more food and of cause grog. As this lot was a bit heavy to walk back to the hotel we had to get a taxi.
Went down to the beach after lunch for a swim. That was heaven after rushing around setting up home feeling so hot and tired just to get into that warm water and just relax. :-) Had our first drink on the balcony tonight and soaked up that view. We now feel we are here.
Today Friday 1st September walked over to the Ala Moana centre after breakfast as I left my walking shoes at home and the ones I had weren't that comfortable for a lot of walking so we had to look for some better walking shoes but didn't have any luck will try again tomorrow. After looking around went for a half hour bus trip to the bus station where we had to go to update our bus passes as it had expired. They last for four years and it expired yesterday. They are good value $5 to reissue new photo card. They still had our photo in the system. Then $10 for the month of September. this covers unlimited bus rides for the whole month. As each ride is $2.25 each ride we would spent a lot more without the card as the bus is our only transport, takes us everywhere. Came back to our unit about 3.00pm hot, tired and very sore feet. couldn't even get the energy to walk down to the beach for a swim. Oh life is getting harder!!!
